About Eight For Eight

Eight For Eight, Boulder, CO

Eight For Eight began selling records in 2000. This was a few years after hearing Scratch's Jungle (with Dub Syndicate) and being completely shocked over it enough to start collecting Upsetter music in earnest. Since starting, we have operated the website and business at various capacities via the internet.

The Early Years

At first we worked with Mick Sleeper and built and maintained a small Perry catalog online, with Mick as webmaster and myself doing the product sourcing, taking orders and shipping them out. Eventually this started taking too much time and other responsibilities began to take hold.

The Blowout

Around 2006 with many pressures mounting we dismantled the basic website framework and reduced our presence to mainly eBay. The website was minimally maintained as a stub into the eBay site.

Metamorphasis

In 2009 everything changed. The project became a full time affair and now all efforts are being directed towards the business. We are focusing on selling product, developing the web site and supporting discography research through the production of music processing algorithms and databases. "It's not all just about reggae" we like to say, but mostly it is.
